Handmade in India

Textile production in India has been a tradition for centuries. Our producer from Gujarat cooperates with farmers in south India who grow pure organic cotton. Weaving, dyeing and sewing is done under one roof and by hand. On meter-long looms our weavers craft the fabric line by line and that’s the reason why our fabric is so soft. To protect men and environment, only plant-based dyes are used. The founder Arun himself has patented plant-based dyeing that stands up to the requirements of our modern world.

The Mama Nuka baby wrap is the only wrap which is produced without a single drop of chemicals. In a process, which is even patented, we dye our material with elements given by nature: vegetables, roots, and blossoms. Plants don’t only give beautiful colours, but they are also very good for you and your baby’s skin. In the conventional cloth dying more than 7000 chemicals are used to create the brilliant colours we know from our own closet. Even certified „organic” colour still contains many synthetic elements. Some may cause skin irritations or allergies, others are hormonally effective or provoke diseases.

You don’t have to think about any of these when you have a Mama Nuka baby wrap. Our colours derive directly from mother nature and her beautiful diversity. Plants like pomegranate, turmeric or indigo give us all the colours which make or baby wraps and lives more colorful!

Your Mama Nuka is made from fair traded organically grown cotton: GOTS is known for its highest ecological and social standards on raw material. Natural fertilizers and a strict ban of chemical defoliation protect plants and people. Also, social standards are high: fair salaries and active collective negotiations.

Our cotton is spun thinly, which makes the fabric very smooth and soft for your baby’s sensitive skin. Our cotton is harvested in south India where it is also spun, woven and eventually turned into a Mama Nuka baby wrap.
